It is one of the richest tournaments on the circuit with the top 30 money champions on the PGA Tour after the penultimate tournament become eligible for The Tour Championship, which is reckoned as one of the most prosperous events during the TOUR.

THE TOUR Championship is the official final tournament on the golf PGA TOUR season. Starting from 1997, the Championship was held in different places, either at Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas, or at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
