The Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship is an annual amateur golf tournament. It is played at various locations throughout Asia-Pacific. It was organized in conjunction with the Masters Tournament and The R&A, organizers of The Open Championship. The winner receives an invitation to the Masters and, along with the runner-up, gains entry to International Final Qualifying for the Open.

The Founding Partners of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) confirmed Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Korea and Royal Wellington Golf Club in New Zealand as hosts for the 2016 and 2017 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championships, respectively. The course is located in Incheon, within the Songdo International Business District (IBD), which is 40 miles west of Seoul. The course has formerly hosted a Champion’s Tour event, the Shinhan Donghae Open, the Chosunilbo-Posco Championship and the Korea Women’s Open.

For sixteen years, the Asia Pacific Golf Group has helped to measure the standard of excellence set by the best in the golf club industry in Asia. This is achieved through an -on-line poll run over a period of three months and the final list of the top ten in each award category is now official.

The event has historically moved throughout the region and has now been held in China (2009, 2013), Japan (2010), Singapore (2011), Thailand (2012), Australia (2014) and Hong Kong (2015).

2016 Asia-Pacific Amateur Winner

Australia’s Curtis Luck won the eighth Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC), held at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon, South Korea. Luck, who had already earned places in the 2017 Masters Tournament, the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills and The 146th Open at Royal Birkdale next year after winning the U.S. Amateur in August, carded a bogey-free 67 on Sunday to complete a seven-stroke comeback and secure a one-shot victory over compatriot Brett Coletta, who earned a place in The Open Qualifying Series.

2015 Asia-Pacific Amateur Winner

Cheng Jin was crowned champion of the 2015 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) after Sunday’s fourth round was cancelled. A lengthy suspension in play, due to high winds and rainfall from a nearby typhoon, eliminated the possibility of play being completed before darkness.

2014 Asia-Pacific Amateur Winner

Australian star Antonio Murdaca held a huge lead heading into the final day of action, and his consistent play helped him take home the tournament title. He became the first Australian to win the Asia-Pacific Championship.

2013 CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Winner

Ryan Moore captured his third career US PGA Tour victory at the 2013 CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur, returning a day after the final round to beat Gary Woodland with a birdie on the first playoff hole.

2012 CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Winner

American Nick Watney shot a final-round 61 to get the 2012 Asia Pacific Classic PGA victory from defending champion Bo Van Pelt. Watney came from four shots behind in Kuala Lumpur to end 22 under par and beat Van Pelt and Robert Garrigus by one shot.

2011 CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Winner

Bo Van Pelt wins 2011 Asia Pacific Classic at the MINES Resort & Golf Club Selangor, Malaysia. He birdied five of the last eight holes for a 7-under 64 and a six-stroke victory.
