Betting Golf Tips For
The Buick Open
There are few factors you should consider before picking
your favorite players for the 2013 Farmers Insurance
Open.
First, it’s important to pay attention to a player’s
previous performance, especially in the Farmers
Insurance Open.
Check previous Farmers Insurance Open winners and review each
player’s history. If a player continues to come back
year after year and performs well on the Torrey Pines
Course, the player has an advantage.
Farmers Insurance Open weather is an important consideration in your
Farmers Insurance Open betting. A strong gust of wind can change
everything, depending on where a player is originally
from. If conditions are windy, a golfer
used to playing in a windy city such as Chicago will
have an advantage.
When deciding on the best time to place a bet, you
should consider a player’s tee time. Because golfers are
putting on the field throughout the day, the grass
becomes inundated with marks. These marks
make it harder to putt than on a smooth green. If you
back a player who has to putt at the end of the day on
day two of the match, for example, it’s likely that that
player won’t putt as well as a player
on day one.
Farmers Insurance Open history
The Farmers Insurance Open is a famous golf tournament. Held
in San Diego, California since 1968.
In 1952 and 1953 the tournament was held in Chula Vista,
at one of the country club of San Diego. In 1954 the
Buick Invitational was played in Rancho Santa Fe,
California, at Rancho Santa Fe golf club. In 1955 the
tournament was organized in San Diego, California, at
the Mission Valley country club, and from 1956 till 1963
the Buick Invitational was held in El Cajon, California,
at the Singing Hills country club (though in 1962 the
club was renamed into the Stardust country club). Now
the club is known as the Riverwalk golf club. In 1964
the golf tournament moved to Rancho Bernardo country
club, which is also located in San Diego, CA. In 1965
and the following two years the Buick Invitational was
returned to the Stardust country club.
Currently, the Buick Invitational is played at Torrey
Pines Golf Course, which is located in La Jolla, CA. The
golf tournament moved here from 1968.
Originally, the Buick Invitational tournament was called
the San Diego Open, in 1955 it was renamed into the
Convair - San Diego Open. From 1957 till 1967 it was
known to the public as the San Diego Open Invitational.
The following year the golf tournament changed its name
into the Andy Williams - San Diego Open Invitational.
Twelve years later it became the Wickes - Andy Williams
San Diego Open. The name existed only two years and in
1983 was again renamed into the Isuzu - Andy Williams
San Diego Open. New sponsors changed the name in 1986
(the Shearson Lehman Brothers Andy Williams Open), in
1988 (Shearson Lehman Hutton Andy Williams Open), in
1989 (Shearson Lehman Hutton Open), and in 1991
(Shearson Lehman Brothers Open). The penultimate name
was almost like we know it now, the Buick Invitational
of California. The present name appeared in 1996.
The Buick Invitational tournament has seen many
prominent golf players, who are still spoken about.
Among the first winners of this prestigious golf
tournament were Ted Kroll, Gene Littler, Tommy Bolt
(twice, in 1953 and 1955), and Bob Rosburg. The
seventies were marked by the gorgeous play of George
Archer, Bob Dickson, Paul Harney, Tom Watson, and
others. The eighties and the nineties glorified George
Burns, Gary Koch, Steve Pate, Dan Forsman, Greg Twiggs,
Phil Mickelson, Davis Love, Mark OMeara, and one of the
greatest golfer of our time Tiger Woods.
Buick Invitational
tournament Winners
2012 Farmers Insurance Open Golf Tournament Winner
Kyle Stanley was so good for 71 holes, but Brandt Snedeker is the 2012 Farmers Insurance Open winner at Torrey Pines Golf Course. The playoff ended on the second extra hole when Snedeker, after his 5-iron bounced off a TV tower behind the par-3 16th green that kept it from going into the canyon, chipped to 5 feet and saved par.
2011 Farmers Insurance Open Golf Tournament Winner
Bubba Watson rolled in a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole Sunday at Torrey Pines, knowing Phil Mickelson could still make eagle on the par-5 closing hole to catch him. Watson made clutch putts on the final two holes for a 5-under 67 and was sitting in the scoring trailer at the end, oblivious to how the final hole played out.
2010 Farmers Insurance Open Golf Tournament Winner
Ben Crane captured the trophy at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines on Sunday with a one-shot victory over Michael Sim, Brandt Snedeker and Marc Leishman. The tourney went down to the wire after Crane missed a putt at 17, opening the door for Sim not to be his day. Crane ended the day with a 2-under 70 for his third career victory and first in nearly five years. But he didn’t know he had won until his playing partner Ryuji Imada, who had led going into Sunday’s round, congratulated him.
2009 Buick Invitational
tournament Winner
| Nick Watney won
the Buick Open Invitational when he was three shots
behind with five holes to play.
First came a
mini-collapse by John Rollins, a combination of bad
swings and bad breaks.
Then it was a
40-foot birdie putt across the 16th green by Watney,
who remembered the severity of the slope at the back
of the green from when he three-putted at the U.S.
Open last summer at Torrey Pines. |
 |
Watney never took the lead
until the final shot of the tournament, a 2½-foot birdie
putt to complete a five-shot comeback for his second career
victory.
Watney, who appeared to be
along for the ride for most of the final round, birdied two
of his last three holes and didn't drop a shot over the
final 11 holes in closing with a 4-under 68 for a one-shot
victory.
